The professional Occupational Hygiene training we deliver can be taken as stand alone courses or as part of the pathway towards gaining recognition in the award of the Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene (CertOH) for which the BOHS (The Chartered Society for Worker Health Protection) is the UK examining board. The written examinations are open book and are taken at the end of training courses. In addition a relevant formative assessment is carried out over the period of the training course and forms part of the final qualification award.

The foundation level qualification is M200 Basic Principles of Occupational Hygiene and enables entry to the BOHS Faculty at the Associate grade. It is also an excellent stand-alone professional development option for a wide range of occupational health and safety professionals. The remainder of the M Series offer intermediate level qualifications which can be stand-alone or lead towards higher level professional qualifications.
Basic Principles in Occupational Hygiene
Covers core concepts in occupational hygiene, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and control fundamentals.
Measurement of Hazardous Substances
Teaches atmospheric monitoring methods and risk assessment techniques for hazardous workplace substances.
Noise – Measurement and Its Effects
Explores noise hazards, human responses, measurement techniques, risk assessment, control methods, and relevant standards.
Control of Hazardous Substances
Provides insight into how exposures occur and strategies—including ventilation, PPE, and process design—to control them effectively.
Health Effects of Hazardous Substances
Offers an overview of toxicology, physiology, epidemiology, and health effects of workplace chemical exposures on organs.
Thorough Examination and Testing of Local Exhaust Ventilation Systems
Develops practical and theoretical skills to check LEV system performance and produce detailed workplace reports.
Modules labelled with * are core modules and must be taken in order to achieve Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene (CertOH).
The Proficiency Modules cover both theory and practical training in specific subjects, and are aimed at those needing to demonstrate a level of proficiency to carry out the area of work covered by the module.
These examinations are usually taken at the end of training courses run by independent course providers who are registered with BOHS (The Chartered Society for Worker Health Protection).
In most cases, the examination includes a written paper and a practical assessment and candidates must pass both elements, and for some of the modules, the qualification is not complete without a further supporting submission of a report.

There is a written examination along with a practical examination, as well as a subsequent practical report submission requirement on this Module. All elements need to be completed successfully before the P601 qualification can be awarded.
