What is Occupational Hygiene?

Occupational Hygiene can be defined as the recognition and identification of hazardous agents(Chemical, Physical or Biological) in the workplace that could cause disease or discomfort.
Hygienists need to be able to evaluate the degree of the risk due to exposure to these hazardousagents and be able to offer advice on controlling the risks to prevent or minimise ill health in thelong or short term.

What are the business benefits of Occupational Hygiene?

Simply to protect everyone’s right to a healthy working environment.
Good knowledge and advice from suppliers and consultants can make a very important contribution to reducing workplace ill-health and should help businesses to make good decisions about controlling exposure to elements in the work place that cancause significant harm to workers.
